Do You Smoke?

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

My Pediatrician said that if a mother smoke while she breastfeed, she must be aware that nicotine and its by-product, nicotine, may be found in her breast milk and in her baby’s urine. Although researchers are not sure how these substances can affect the baby, it’s a good reason to stop smoking. If she can’t stop smoking, she should keep breastfeeding. Breastmilk may help protect her baby from some of the unfavorable side effects of secondhand smoke.

Conscious Breathing

Monday, September 29, 2008

As a mother of two children I have learned that a child needs to breathe more fully to relieve panic or pain. The same is true with adults. Conscious breathing practices are now routinely taught in childbirth preparation classes. Anxiety intensifies pain, and normal reaction is to tighten up when breathing. Breathing consciously not only will relieve tension and help quiet any fear, it can also relieve pain.

Trust Your Children

Sunday, September 28, 2008

Parents’ being protective of their children is never a question. However, there are times that parents seem to be so tough on them. With this, children may think that parents do not trust them and so they tend to keep secrets from them and event to the extent of telling lies. So instead of worrying much and doubting them always, try to ask your children where they are going and with whom. If possible, get to know your children’s friends and their families so you will be familiar with them.

Wanted Sweetheart

Saturday, September 27, 2008

A radio program in which entertains people looking for a partner or love search. Participants are allowed to have a live conversation. Yes! Live conversation meaning radio listeners can hear their conversation. Mostly, the dialogue will start by describing themselves (vital statistics) and asking about their ideal man or woman. The talk usually ends up with setting a date, time, and where they can meet. Both parties will agree to what color of clothes they will wear for proper identification. Hmmm.

Saving Energy Tips

Friday, September 26, 2008

The roof of our home is like a solar heat collector. In a country like the Philippines where the climate is warm we can do something to reduce it and so save on energy. Painting our roofs with white will surely reduce our air conditioning bills. White doesn’t reflect heat and so it reflects back the sunlight in our roofs to the atmosphere and thus reduces the effects of global warming. Using concrete materials instead of asphalt in building our roads will also minimize heat and so our surroundings will not be so hot to require the use of air conditions or electric fans.

Respect For Our Parents

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Kids nowadays have indeed change. This they show when answering their parents. Many a times they do it. Example is when the parents asked them to go to the store to buy something. If they are busy playing, they will answer back but with a high voice which shows disrespect to parents. When they are asked not to do this or that and children disagree they answer in high and loud voices. We have to tell them that they don’t have to shout and they can explain themselves in a low voice. Parents should also see to it that they are the examples of their kids. Don’t be authoritative when talking to your children or when they hear you shouting at your own parents.

Law of Love

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

There are many stories of people who sheltered Jews during the Nazi persecutions of World War II. This was a very dangerous thing to do because if you get caught, as many were, you would be shot to death. But many Catholics and non-catholics chose to risk their lives and the lives of their families to do such a courageous thing. Why? They do it because the law of love is greater than the Nazi Law even if it may result to death.

Breaktime

Sunday, September 21, 2008

It’s just the first weekend of the second month of the year - but why on earth, you think, with your current stress level, does it feel like it’s already the third quarter of the year already? Maybe for you students it’s the thought that the semester is about to end in less than two months and there are still papers, exams and reports to hurdle. Or maybe for you employees it’s the sky-high target mandated by management that’s draining all the remaining strength from you. Whatever it is, you might just need some break from it all.

Anger Management

Thursday, September 18, 2008

In one of the books I read, a writer swung his axe at the root of one of our deepest problems: a smothering absorption with our own desires—getting our own way and having our own needs met. When that passion is frustrated, it can quickly become blind rage that demeans others and debases us. Though we may get what we want, we’re left feeling unsatisfied.

Interpreting Literature

Monday, September 15, 2008

I tried to read some famous poem in the and still, nothing has changed, I think. It seems that the way I interpret it is so shallow. I don’t know if I’m small-minded or it’s just that I interpret things in a very practical way. You know, I don’t really make the things around me so complicated. No wonder I had a hard time getting an A+ grade on my literature subject. No matter how hard I try to “read between the lines”, I really just can’t. But still, I know I’m not hopeless. Maybe I just needed some more practice.

Stressful Day

Friday, September 12, 2008

Katherine’s Tuesday is a very stressful one. The first thing she does upon waking up is to cook baby food for his 6-month-old son Kyle. After which, she blenderizes and divide it into three containers—one for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner. Hurriedly, she prepares stuff for bathing her baby. When her son is through taking a bath she immediately feed him. She then assembles her breast pump in order to express milk to keep up her milk supply while she is taking medication for her illness. Unfortunately, one of its parts, the silicone diaphragm of her pump is missing. Her house help inadvertently wash it off last night. Kathy was angry because she not only lost it the first time but she did it twice already. All other spare parts included in the kit were lost by her. She had also lost 3 caps of the baby’s bottle since the beginning of the year. Kathy wants to shout in anger to her helper but controlled herself. This made her stress. She warns her to be extra careful with handling things in the house.

Is Tattoo An Art?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

In the medieval age, both men and women are having tattoos. This is so because it is their tradition to put tattoos on their body (it is said that tattoos serves as their clothing). For some, it is an art. But as Christianity influences our life, we, as modern people didn’t adopt this belief because we were raised with the Church’s teaching. We were taught that we should not write or draw anything to our body for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit that needs to be kept as sacred. In totality, tattoos are works of art that are drawn on the wrong ground.

The Incredible Hulk

Saturday, September 6, 2008

The second installment for the incredible hulk was in totality, well, incredible. Its story revolves around a scientist who studied the gamma rays for the government. And because of his experiment he dared to use his self as a subject for the said experiment. And the effect, he becomes the green monster whenever he gets mad (he transforms usually when his heartbeat reaches 200 beats a minute). This is another must-see movie after Kung Fu Panda. For sure, both kids and adults will love this movie.

TV Innovation

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

I have mentioned on my prior blogs that I am such a TV addict. And now, I was able to discover another TV innovation. Be prepared to get the ultimate viewing experience where reality and its depiction transcend all borders. See true-to-life colors and feel the details of images with these latest televisions. Made from unique technologies, these TVs allow us to view our persona; and media contents like never before. We would probably be entertained with stunning image, clarity and exceptional sound quality that are simply amazing.

The Animal

Monday, September 1, 2008

Another Filipino Pride who is making his mark in the international arena is the World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, Dave “The Animal” Batista. Yes, he is. The tough guy who sweats ferocity off his pores. But do you know that behind the hulky, macho body is a soft and sentimental guy. And he admits that! He is never shy about revealing that he really cries and is hurt whenever his daughter got some terrible headache. Maybe a lot of wrestling fans would have a hard time believing this fact. But just like us, he’s really just a man.
