Puzzled Scientist

Sunday, August 31, 2008

By man’s ingenuity, gadgets of all kinds including “almost human computers” have been invented. Man has landed on the moon and returned with amazing accuracy; temperature has been successfully stimulated; certain parts of the body have been incredibly duplicated. Yet with all the know-how and scientific expertise, men cannot create life. Where did life come from? How is life sustained? These questions continue to baffle scientist.

I’m addicted to cola ever since I was young. I’ve always been a soda lover. Actually, I’m so addicted to it. I’m trying to cut back on cola this time as what the doctor advice me. But before, there was a time I could finish off a 1.5 liter bottle in just one sitting. Then eventually, I would drink some more later. That’s how addicted I was. But now I’ve learned to slow it down.

What’s a surefire way to woo women with a minimum cheese factor? Leaving out the cheese means poetry is nixed. And so are chocolates. Pick up lines are totally out of the question. What else have we got, then? If you are to follow a girl, you can’t go wrong with dogs. That’s right- dogs. All you need is a really cute fluffy puppy, walk her to the park, stand there, and presto! Girls will flock to you. The girl will not be able contain herself that they’ll bend over to stroke the mutt, while you of course behold the wonderful scene. That’s when you ask for a name and a number. Try it. It totally works with dog lovers.

Food Trip

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Drop at the fast food with the white plastic utensils, and have an adventure with your tongue and palate. Gobble up some special local fares, international menus and tropical dishes- all things delicious that you’ve been missing out. I’ve tried it and its fun. Try for yourself. If you don’t feel like eating alone, stack the chow in a picnic basket and bring your honey along. After the gluttony fare, you always have the option to snuggle under a tree. Don’t forget the picnic blanket.

Feeding Breast Milk in Bottles

Thursday, August 14, 2008

When Jenny had twins, one was ill and couldn’t feed as well as her sister, who was a regular little pig! Her doctor suggested she pump her breasts and feed them the breast milk in bottles. That way she could divide up her milk so that each baby got the same amount. To finish off each feeding, she fed them formula after they finished the breast milk. They did real well. Jenny kept pumping her breasts and feeding them this way for about 4 months.

Breastfeeding vs. Bottlefeeding

Monday, August 11, 2008

Susan’s baby was a lazy little guy! He just couldn’t be bothered to suck very much. When she went to his 2-week checkup, he hadn’t even gained back to his birth weight. Susan was worried and asked what she should do. Her doctor explained to her that a few babies just won’t breastfeed hard enough if they get a bottle early. She had been sick, and she had to bottlefeed him formula when she was taking medicine. She tried breastfeeding for a couple more weeks, then decided to bottlefeed. As soon as she switched to bottlefeeding, he started gaining weight! He was quite chubby Susan had his picture taken at 3 months.

Spend Less Time Cleaning

Friday, August 8, 2008

When you clean windows, toss drapes or curtains in the dryer to remove dust. While you polish furniture, your child can dust baseboards with sock-covered hands, In the kitchen, you clean the countertops and have a child wipe the fronts of lower cabinets with a water-dampened cloth. Next time you take out the garbage, store a few extra plastic trash bags under the bag in use. While clothes are in the washer, hand-wash delicates in a sink. Drip –dry together clothing that can’t go into the dryer and hand-washables. When cleaning your baby’s nursery, throw machine-washable stuff toys in a pillowcase in the washing machine to keep them clean, protected and smelling fresh. Soak burned pots and pans in a little vinegar and water while you do the rest of the dishes. Cleaning will be easier. Set the table and unload the dishwasher at the same time. Remove clean dishes and place directly on the table.

Double-Duty Exercise Ideas

Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Spend quality time with a child and get exercise, too. Go on a brisk walk or bike-ride together. Flatten your stomach as you watch the news. Doing a few dozen stomach crunches several times a week will give results in a month or two. Take the stairs as often as possible. Don’t look for the closest parking place when shopping. Park in the back of the lot and take a walk!

Salmonella

Monday, August 4, 2008

I just learned that as a baby gets older and begins to move around and can hold things while she’s doing so, different situations may arise. One that may cause a parent some concern is baby drinking formula that is not fresh. Occasionally baby will find a bottle of formula she left someplace and drink it. Can it hurt her? Probably not, especially if the formula has been out only a short while. However, if you don’t know how long it’s been unrefrigerated, you might be concerned about salmonella. Signs that baby is having a problem usually occur between 2 and 72 hours after drinking the formula. Watch for diarrhea and/or vomiting.

Motivate your Child

Saturday, August 2, 2008

It is very helpful for a child to grow in an environment where they’re motivated to do the things that they please to do. That way, they learn to discover new things their own way. If your child does something good, praise them and if they do otherwise, don’t nag or scold them! Teach them instead. As parents, we should also be dynamic and motivate our children through constructive criticism. Show your child the whole world and let them discover their limits. But we should not forget to teach them the values that they have to observe for them to live the Godly life.

Foreign Exchange

Friday, August 1, 2008

Here’s a fun and easy way to teach your child (and yourself) a second language: Borrow foreign language tapes from your local library, college or university, and listen to them while doing chores at home, or while walking or riding to and from work or School. Your child might be even more receptive to the idea if you can find some foreign versions of her favorite recordings.
